Back from 2014 Convention

Real Estate Agent with Re/Max Bayshore

I just arrived home from the 2014 Annual Michigan Realtors Convention in Grand Rapids and as usual I come home with vigor and enthusiasm.  No matter how much knowledge you think you have, I guarantee if you attend even 1 seminar you will leave with some tidbit of info to help a client.

This year I attended several informative classes or seminars on title issues, creating the perfect listing presentation, new technology, lead generation, client follow up and pricing strategies.  Every year there is something new to learn.

For many real estate professions a certain number of hours are required to maintain a real estate license.  Here in Michigan it is 6 hours or continuing education each year.  For me that is nowhere near enough.  A true professional, in my opinion, is a REALTOR who is constantly learning not only about their business but about how to help their customers and clients.

If I were thinking about hiring a buyer’s agent or looking for a good listing agent I thing I would ask their opinion about education.  I would want my agent o seek out the latest information and trends.  Not only are regular classes and seminars available but also numerous specialized designations.

Remember that when you hire an agent you are generally hiring that agent and not the office.  As an attorney in my last title seminar said, “half of all attorneys finished in the bottom half of their class”.  That certainly applies to Real Estate agents as well.   It all boils down to asking lots of questions and doing your research.

Hi Jules, money and time spent on education is always a good investment.  I always get more than my moneys worth at Realtors conventions and wonder why so many people skip them.
