Marketing Your Business: Social Media 103 - Facebook
Of course you've heard about Facebook - who hasn't? It is one of the top social media platforms out there with over 750 million users. The question is, do you have a presence on Facebook and, if so, are you making the most of your Facebook membership? Contrary to what many people think, Facebook isn't just for playing games! You can use it for so much more!
- Profile Page: If you haven't already done so, set up your profile page. This way, you can make use of Facebook's Google juice and ride the wave of keyword searches to bring your audience right to you. This is where you should post your videos, family photos, and blurbs about the things you do for hobbies. It is not your business page, but simply a venue for those who may be interested in buying or selling a home to see the human side of you and connect with you on a personal note.
- Fan Page: Setting up a dedicated Fan Page gives you the opportunity to advertise your services unobstructed. The beauty of a Fan Page is that anyone who "likes" your page is essentially asking you to give them information about your business. So give it to them! Connect your blog so that your posts automatically stream to your Fan Page. Connect your Twitter account so that your tweets automatically stream to your Facebook Fan Page. Of course, be sure that your listings and closings are advertised so that people will always see that you're doing business.
- Facebook Ads: With the targeted advertising that Facebook now has in place, your ad will be in front of people talking about or searching for information about your services within minutes. Many real estate professionals are jumping on the bandwagon of Facebook Ads - and saying how effective they are. (Of course, be sure you have sufficient support in place to deal with the influx of leads before you start your first campaign. The biggest mistake is advertising and not being in a position to properly manage your leads once they start coming in.)
Facebook Groups: You can set up (or join) groups with a specific target for information. There are hundreds if not thousands of groups on Facebook that are about specific topics: a city, a state, a hobby, a career. Set up your own group that targets your niche - and then supply your information, giving the group members access to your expertise on a subject near and dear to your heart. Be as narrowed in focus as you possibly can. That will guarantee an audience that is looking for just the information you can provide.
Just as with many other social media platforms, real estate professionals are seeing a significant increase in leads and referrals from their Facebook activity.
