Holy College Bill!

Yikes!  I recently received my first college bill for one of my children.  I thought I was going to have a heart attack!  My daughter is a college freshman on a “full” scholarship.  Even though her scholarship completely covers her tuition, there’s still $5000+ for dorms, $2500+ for meals, $500+ for books, $2000+ for sorority life, and let’s not forget the “miscellaneous” items.

Okay.  So after I calmed down (I was thinking this is the first of four children to go to college), I set out to sort out my finances.  In short, I came up short.  My next step was to find money.  One of the sites I found has a bevy of scholarships which they are offering to college students and they are still available even though school has already started.  The site is http://www.fastweb.com/referral/jkharen

If you have/will have children going to college and you need financial assistance that doesn't require taking out a second mortgage on your home and that you don't have to pay back , I strongly recommend visiting this site.  It’s a stress reliever.

Best of luck to you and your kiddos!

I am a strong believer that unless it's an Ivy League school, community colleges are a good start and local universities provied a good education with the lowest costs.

Florida has Bright Futures Schlorships for A and B students.  The high the grades, the more students get for college.
