I rarely take a "vacation"... I'm way too much of a control-freak to leave my business in the hands of others. But I recently found myself in a position to go on one of those rare vacations, and found myself in Aspen, Colorado.
While I'd been to Colorado in my youth, I'd never managed to get to Aspen, which seemed to be the home to the wealthy and the ski-dogs (read that as hot-dogging-skiers).
As it turns out, I was right... home of the wealthy... there wasn't anything for sale in that town that didn't require a co-signer, for this lowly Realtor. The average pizza was the price of a small smart-car, and a night-on-the-town required consulting with my regular lender. I had forgotten to bring a light sweater with me, so I checked out some of the local stores, and couldn't find a simple gap-like-sweater for anything less than $300.00. Sorry, Aspen... y'all can keep those sweaters.
It was a bit early to determine if it was also the home of the ski-dogs. Signs of skiing were everywhere... ski-lifts, snow-covered-mountain-tops...
While I knew that Colorado was beautiful, I wasn't prepared for just how
beautiful Aspen would be in the autumn. I missed the "colour" season by about a week, and yet the colours were downright beautiful. Totally worth the cost of admission. It was nigh unto impossible to take a poor photograph, even using only my simple i-phone. I posted a number of these photos on my facebook account, and one commenter accused me of snapping photos of postcards and calling them my own.
I'm officially an Aspen-aholic.
