Mount Vernon Virginia the logical choice for home buyers headed to Fort Belvoir or The Pentagon.
It's location is south of Washington D.C. And east of Rt. 1 and has some of the prettiest homes sites around if you really start look around. Most of the home sites in this area are more level than many area and it's location is ideal if you enjoy driving to Old Town Alexandria or to D.C. Via the George Washington Parkway.
Mount Vernon is an obvious choice to look for a home if they are relocating to Fort Belvoir or would like a reverse commute. The Rt 1 realignment which will be completed in late 2015 is well under way. Even after the realignment traffic will still be heavy going south at peak times since it is a major commuting road. If you are going to the Pentagon or downtown D.C there is no better drive than the G.W. Parkway and the 15 miles to the Pentagon along the river. It was my father in laws favorite part of his day as he drove home after a day in a windowless office at the Pentagon.
Many think they cannot afford to live in Mount Vernon in Alexandria, Virginia but I assure you that is not the case.
I encourage you to give me a call and let me show you what is possible if you are looking for a home in the near future especially if you are looking for a Single Family home in the $500,000 to $1,000,000 range. The area has seen a healthy equity growth this year as shown in the chart below. If this is an ideal location then seizing an oppotrtunity to live here while the interest rates are low may be just what you are looking for.

The largest percentage of homes sold last year were in the price range of $600-$700,000 and each has a unique character of their own. The owners have loved and cared for most of these homes and put their unique stamp on them over the years. Many have been updated and yet offer the mature neighborhood and yards a newer home further south cannot offer. A colonial such as the one to the left was a newer construction in the past 10 years and would be in the $900,000+ range.

It is always a stress reliever to drive by on any given nice day just to take in the beauty of the streets and mature landscaping and enjoy the non cookie cutter communities.
I personally love this home to the right it is a classic Williamsburg Colonial with the sake roof one of my favorites!
Don't get me wrong their is nothing wrong with homes that look alike but if you like the character of established yards, mature trees and peace and quiet this is a place to consider.
