curb appeal front Spring is a Great Time to Spruce up Your Yard & Your Spirits!Spring is here. Temperatures are warming up as we are having glorious weather in Northern California. Now is the time for outdoor activities. One of those activities can be sprucing up your yard.

In  my previous article (http://actvra.in/4pwY), I mentioned landscaping projects which add privacy to your home. How about improving the curb appeal of your front yard?

Here are some pointers when trying to improve your curb appeal:

  • Dress Up the Front Door – The front door of your home is the focal point of appeal. Add custom paint or a wood door. Make sure to clean off all dirt spots and use metal polish. Your door should be a reflection of the style of your house

  • Create Perfect Symmetry – Symmetry is pleasing to the eye and simple to apply to your home. Symmetrical light fixtures and front door accents boost curb appeal.

  • Create an Instant Garden – There’s no need to put in all the effort of a normal garden. Buy readymade potted plants which will add a splash of color to front of your home. To get better appeal, arrange them in a staggered, asymmetrical formation.

  • Add Outdoor Art – Add some weather resistant artwork that matches the pallet of your exterior. Things like birdbaths, metal cutouts, sculptures, and wind chimes are some examples. A water fountain can also be added which adds a soothing sound to the garden. Make sure to place items in a spot where it is easily sighted and not where leaves tend to fall.

  • Build a Walkway – a nice walkway can make your home feel inviting. Construct a contoured path made of brick or stone. You can apply colored concrete to an old walkway, then edge with some brick or stone borders.

These are some of the tips from 20 Ways to Add Curb Appeal, and article from Better Homes and Gardens.

For a quick, inexpensive spruce up when preparing to sell your home or to improve your curb appeal, I recommend that you trim your trees & bushes, and cover dirt areas with fresh bark & annual flowers.

Good luck & have fun!
