If you are a movie lover, you will want to check out the Park City Film Series. The Series offers screenings of current independent films. The films are shown at the Jim Santy Auditorium for an intimate venue. Film enthusiasts will enjoy the huge appeal of the films. Currently, films are shown at a temporary location (until February 1, 2015) at the Prospector Lodge and Conference Center, located at 2175 Sidewinder Drive.

The Park City Film Series is presented by a non-profit organization that strives to present the best of independent feature, documentary, and world and local movies. The organization’s mission is to create community through film.

History of the Park City Film Series

The Series was originally a project of the Park City Arts Council and has been operating as an independent entity since October 1999. The Film Series is a single screen, independent art house cinema, and is part of a group of theaters that represent 4% of all theaters throughout the country. The Film Series bring films and film-related events that are not normally available through commercial outlets. Additionally, the Sundance Institutes presents free community programs throughout the year.

In addition to regularly scheduled movie screenings, the Series also presents a series of community programming throughout the area.

Books 2 Movies

Books 2 Movies is a partnership between the Park City Library, Summit County Library, and the Park City Film Series. This program aims to bridge the divide between movies and children’s and young adult literature. This series is designed to get “reluctant readers” interested in literature through film. Free films are shown on the first Thursday of each month at 4 p.m. at the Coalville and Kamas libraries, and the first Saturday of each month at 3 p.m. at the Park City and Kimball Junction libraries. Admission is free.

Reel Community Series

The Reel Community Series presents films monthly in partnership with local non-profit organizations, with films presented that reflect the mission of the partners, along with the interests of the community. The focus of the series is to create a platform for community conversation.

If you are interested in attending any screenings or community programs, you can find more information at the Park City Film Series site at www.parkcityfilmseries.com.
