Running for Pizza

By
Real Estate Agent with Jameson Sotheby's International Realty

Tomorrow is the  Chicago Marathon.

And like everyone else, I have been training tirelessley.  After all, this is no small undertaking to run 23.2... er... 32.4.... um... a whole lotta miles in a row.

It's going to be a cold morning, which will help keep my sweating down... (I sweat like a little piggy... okay, okay... more like a large piggy).

In preparation for the marathon, I have been carbo-loading for the last 20 or 30 years, and resting up for days at a time.

The marathon runs through more than 20 of Chicago's local neighbourhoods, giving the participants a good look at Chicago's diversity.

Wish me luck... (I'm going to need it).

I've been carbo loading for nearly a half century and plan to keep that prep up... as for running the race, not so much.  Good luck.  I want to see a video of you crossing the finish line.

I think you deserve a terrific amount of respect for even trying! I'd be there as well if it wasn't for my bad knees, 40 extra pounds and a whole lotta other other things (as in I like to breathe)! Go for it!!

Alan, I used to be a dedicated runner and would be out there 4-5 mornings a week. Then the knees got sore. Now when the urge hits me, I will sit down until it passes. Good Luck

Well gee Alan, I have been undergoing the same training regimen. Maybe I too could run the 26.2 miles. That's not too far is it?

I seem to recall when a famous female marathon runner ran and won the 26 plus mile thing.  She did it about 4 weeks following arthroscopic knee surgery.

Joan Benoit is her name and she's still the record holder.   A little thing at 5 feet tall and 100 lbs.

Big heart no doubt.

Carbo loading is vital to the success of any marathon or greater athlete. I congratulate you for putting in thirty years of prep work. That is some serious diligence. Seriously, I hope it went well and you were able to finish.
