Here is the San Diego Little Italy Fiesta 2014 Guide
Little Italy San Diego will welcome more than 120,00 visitors from all over the WORLD to celebrate in the country’s largest Italian homecoming.
Started in 1994, the Little Italy community opened its streets to San Diego residents, and welcomed visitors to enjoy the colorful culture and old world tastes that make the Italian culinary delights timeless.
The special event will be the Chalk Art:
In honor of the FESTA’s 20th Anniversary, several artists will be working together to create a collaborative, oversized (20′x30′) chalk art piece that will depict this beautiful image of the Virgin Mary in stained glass, from Duomo di Milano. Special thanks go to veteran Gesso Italiano artist Cecilia Linayao for coordination of this multiple-artist piece.
Interested chalk artists will be able to flaunt their artistic chalk art abilities by to depicting something Italian, or Italian/American in nature. This neighborhood has deep roots in Italian culture, and there are so many options you can choose from…from Italian visual and performing arts, to Italian products/design/fashion, to the beautiful landscapes of Italy…the options are practically endless, and chalk artists are encouraged to be as creative with the theme as they wish, within the broad parameters of this fun theme.
For the festival, provided will be 8 foot by 8 foot squares for chalking pleasure. The Gesso Italiano feature of the Little Italy Fiesta will once again take place on Date Street.
Prizes will be determined as follows:
Best in Show: $500
Peoples’ Choice: $350
Best High School: $250
Best School (Middle School or Younger): $150
It will be held Sunday, October 12, 2014 from 10:00am to 6:00pm
