We quit the rat race eight years ago, and moved to the North Georgia Mountains.
This was a life changing decision, and as it turns out, a great decision. Both my wife and I quit good jobs, left successful businesses behind to find ourselves a more tranquil, less stressful lives. Was not all that easy initially, but through the years our entrepreneurial spirit overcame all obstacles, and we created a very successful, yet almost stress free and definitely FUN business. Now we live on the property we purchased in 2007 that not only offers a lifestyle we searched for but also pays our bills and allows us to save for retirement. Not that I will ever retire - I like to stay active, and will do so as long as I am physically capable. Good track record though - my grandfather who passed on at the great age of 101 worked until his last days and my father, who is now 86, is more active than most young people we know.
So what is this great business that allows us the lifestyle and happiness most people look for? Very simple - we cater for over 25K family visitors annually who come to the mountain escaping the dread-lock of traffic, the hectic city life and seek fresh air, good water and a surround of nature at its best. Our property is located in the heart of the Aska Adventure Area, with hiking trails galore - the property is set on four acres of pristine and beautiful land with a large fishing pond a nine hole mini golf course and a large gem mining operation. By gem mining I do not mean the pick-ax, helmet and grunt labor type of operation, but rather a relaxing set of sluce boxes (flumes) where our guests of all ages can sift through some pay dirt and take a large quantity of gem stones back to their city lives.
We established a great web presence; countless amazing reviews and we now have a following of guest from all over the Country - most return year after year, so we get to see the kids grow into young adults and even bring their own children back ...
What makes us different from other similar businesses? First of all our service and family orientation. We treat all as family. But I am sure a lot of other mom and pops do the same. I believe the biggest key to our success is the fact that we offer three activities - three activities that are so different yet go so well together. Fishing, mini golf and gem mining! What a trio!
Now comes the kicker! We have decided to sell the business. Why on earth would one sell something that works so well? It is a personal choice. We decided that only one year away from the great 60 it is time to travel and spoil the grand kids. With our families spread over not only states by continents the short one week here one week there does not work any more. Time to do a "live here a bit, live there a bit" routine, and short of finding someone to run the business for us the next best thing is to pass the torch, and help someone achieve what we have and allow someone else to live the lifestyle that is so conducive to healthy, stress free living.
So - spread the word! The Lilly Pad Village in Blue Ridge, GA - an amazing destination - is now available to purchase. Not only is this a turn key, earn a living from the get-go business, but also offers amazing possibilities for expansion. An undeveloped two acres is prime for up to six "little" cabins or tree houses for rentals and the main building (and the area) is prime for food service. With the already present 25K+ visitors annually, one really cannot go wrong.
