Piney Point Estates used to be farmlands.  Just like its neighboring communities, the period of suburban growth and the city expansion attracted residents to move to this quiet community.  Most homes are at least half-acre lots, while others are as large as 3 acres.  This tree-lined community is quite mix, with older generation residents and new residents either renovated the older homes or just built new ones.  Although Piney Point is close to Westheimer, one of Houston's busiest roads, it has preserved its private and quaint atmosphere.   The other half of Piney Point is called Shady Lane Estates, a walled and gated community with only 25 patio or garden style homes on a horseshoe street.  Both Piney Point and Shady Lane have active homeowners associations.  The median appraised value for homes is $850K, and price ranges from $402K to $1.216M+.
