I used to play on Facebook now I play in the Rain - Active Rain

By
Real Estate Agent with Remax Realty Group 316581

My workday usually starts with reading Facebook posts from the night before and commenting on friends' and clients' pictures and updates. It has been fun and productive. I can spend hours on Facebook. I then move on to Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram,  and Linked-In. I then go to the MLS and keep that running in the background all day because my job is to list and sell homes!  But is it really work? Is it really helping my business?  I believe that Facebook and all social media is a wonderful way to connect with people and yes, I do believe it is business. Full disclosure - I love how it feels to get likes on my updates and I love to give back and Like friends posts. For me it is work.

Enter Active Rain...I am going to spend time growing here. Learning how to blog, spending time with my colleagues, learning about their neighborhoods, the latest technology to help my clients and business and maybe even doing some traveling to meet in person with the people that I have met online are all goals of mine. I love to attend Real Estate education seminars and learn about my craft! What a better way to do this than be on Active Rain!

I have to give a big shout out and Thank You to my friend Roy Kelley. He has been talking to me about doing this for years. He was right! He is probably one of the brightest people I know. His photography is stunning and he has a keen sense for what is happening and what is going to happen in the Real Estate market.

I am bursting with excitement and enthusiasm! I am going to participate and join this community and it is going to be my pleasure to blog about my life in Real Estate as well as my neighborhood and Maryland. Yes, this is business and what a wonderful business this is!  I am so happy this journey has begun. I am hooked!

All the best to your continued success. I was just wondering how you managed to get any RE work done with all the time you spent on those social media websites? What was your secret formula to managing your time effectively while still being productive?

Will - Thank you! I am hoping to learn also!

Marta - I do enjoy Facebook, but I have a feeling I am going to like this just as much. I love talking about Real Estate and really enjoy all the people I have met during my Real Estate career.

Kimo - You are funny! I do sell houses, in spite of myself sometimes. No really...I spend a lot of time working but I do enjoy social media.

Lou - Roy really does. His office was across from mine for many years and I am happy that he is my friend, neighbor and colleague.

David - It might - though I think I am blessed with lots of referrals from social media, there is no denying that I do connect with clients, friends & family on it.

I prefer to think of it as playing with ideas about how to be the best you can be and that I can be at any site or social network.

Active Rain has replaced Facebook for most of my online time. I learn and interact. I do check my kiddos pix and family updates...but market reports and new loan programs are better suited to my day, work junkie

Keeo a balance all of these can be great tools or great time wasters. I have found ranking high on ActiveRain is great but I would rather close an escrow.

When i log in there are two tabs that are always open, my MLS and my ActiveRain. When I have a distraction I find myself looking at the 'Rain' more than my social media sites.  Have fun with it!

Welcome to active rain! Try not to get too bogged down in the site. There is a ton of great info to read, and if you're not careful, you'll have days where you don't leave the house because of it.
