Second Season For St. Andrew's Concert Series ' Saturday's at 7" begins October 25/2014

 

St.Andrew's United Church Concert Series under the musical direction of Devon Hansen will  begin October 25/2014 in Chatham, featuring six programs of varying themes and music styles. The Series is called ''Saturday's at 7' Hansen, an accomplished pianist, organist and music director will perform in most of the programs as well as the Chancel Choir of St.Andrews United Church. There will be guest choirs as well as other guest performers..

The first in the series will take place on October 25/2014 and will help mark the  180th anniversary celebration weekend of the church. The program will feature a 180 voice choir directed by Hansen. St.Andrews United Church ChathamMembers of 4 choirs including 2 guest choirs from Michigan as well as various members of the Chatham-Kent, Windsor and Detroit Community will be in attendance to celebrate the weekend in song.

November 22, the highly acclaimed pop/folk singer, pianist and songwriter, Kylee Fisher will perform a combination of music in the style of Barbara Streisand and Celine Dion with the second half of her show being a program of contemporary Christian Music.

December 20, don't miss the Spectacular Christmas Concert, 'Bells Will Be Ringing' presented by the choirs of St. Andrews and guest choirs as well St. Andrews United Churchas guest performers from Canada and the United States.

February 7 ' This Lil' Light of Mine' will focus on the history of Negro spirituals as they relate to the Underground Railway in music and spoken word. Black History Month is February and Chatham-Kent is steeped in Black History with such attractions as Uncle Tom's Cabin, The Buxton National Historic Site and Museum  and the Village of North Buxton  itself which was one of the last stops on the Underground Railway and the site of one of the largest Black settlements after the war and the abolition of Slavery.

Two talented Musicians will feature both piano and organ music and a combination of the two on April 18 with a performance called 'Dueling Keyboards.

Last in the series is ' Broadway and Beyond Act 3' June 6 which will feature songs from well known stage and screen presentations.
