On October 11, 2014, Delaware County's Bethel Preservation Society held their Founders' Day House Tour (plus one bonus house in Concord Township). The first house, on Concord Rd., dates back to 1695 (you can see the mantel and front door below), with additions in 1720 and 1840. The 1720 section housed the Buck Tavern, which remained in business 100 years.
Another interesting house is the Craftsman styled home (center) on Garnet Mine Road, believed to be a 1920 Sears Roebuck design, with much original woodwork. The Datto home on Temple Road (center top) dates back to 1801. Filled with antiques, the property also includes a barn and smoke house. There is a barn and corn crib (top right) on the Johnson's property on Bethel Road, along with fainting goats (calmly chewing on grass) and a most delightful springhouse. The most interesting detail of the stone springhouse (with cozy fire burning-center picture, plus interior window bottom left) is that it was built in the 18th century by adjacent homeowners to live in while they built their house. It has a 2nd level loft for sleeping, as well as a lower level where the spring entered.
