The Corn Harvest photos following the bean photos are from the John and James Shiers farms east of Kearney, NE.

Is your Farm Manager out on Your Farm during Harvest? If not...why not?

This was the first time in my life that I have seen a combine waiting for a train...I thought it was a unique photo. We were heading to a different field 4 miles away and waiting for the train and traffic on Hiway 30 east of Kearney, NE...it took 5 minutes to get across this intersection.

Hi Adrian, Joe, and Kristin,

The harvest is all but wrapped up and most got finished a few days before this big cooldown. The farmers are now busy (the smart farmers) cleaning and repairing their equipment for next year. Prices are low so many are holding on to their corn and beans if they can...but that costs oney as well.

Kristin...we have many trains pass through our area as we have both UPRR and Santa Fe/Burlington Northern mainlines within a few miles of us here.

I love trains and worked for Burlington Northern back in the late 70's/early 80's until I got caught in a large layoff and moved on.
