Rivergate Complex coming to the Northern part of Woodbridge, Virginia
If you have driven down Rt. 1 in the North Woodbridge Area you would think you were going through a ghost town. Route 1 used to be home to thriving strip malls, Lowes, Kmart, numerous restaurants and stores were all around. Over the years, most of the larger stores have moved over near the Prince William Parkway area.
Well, help is on the way to the Northern End of Rt. 1 in the Woodbridge, Virginia area. The Rivergate project won approval from the Board in 2005, prior to the recession. The project will consist of 720 new condos located in a five-story development on 13 acres of land along the Occoquan River. The Rivergate complex is expected to be complete by 2020. The development also will provide a new streetscape to the area with new sidewalks, and will complement the marina, newly revitalized riverside restaurant, and an events center which all sit next door.
This is great news for people driving through and those who still live in this area. With all the business moving to the Prince William Parkway area, this is welcome news for continued growth for the Northern end of Woodbridge, which has suffered in the 30 years.
Having lived in this area for years, this was the go to place for groceries, fast food and general shopping. I am glad to see revitalization coming to this area of Woodbridge, Virginia. This will create more jobs and opportunities for the citizens of Woodbridge, Virginia.
There are several other projects springing up along the Rt.1 Corridor, none as large as Rivergate, but all a welcome addition to the Woodbridge, Virginia area.
