This weekend check out Wisconsin Book Festival at the Central Library Thursday October 16 to Sunday October 19th. Four days full of literary gold, 60 events that cover the gamut of genres. Several bestselling authors hosting discussions and round table events. There will be workshops on how to get started as an author and discussions on the most influential books of our time.

Release Your Inner Scientist
It’s time for the Wisconsin Science Festival downtown at the UW Discovery building. This is the fourth year for this exciting event for the nerd in all of us. This Festival was created to inspire and engage all in the enterprise of science and discovery; to cultivate curiosity and communicate the power of knowledge and creativity to change our world view. That's a tall task. Highlights for this weekend are Big Ideas-Busy People, Science of Supper Clubs, Nerd Nite & several round table discussions.

Have Cart Will Travel...for Food
Fall Food Cart Festival is here, so get in line with pockets full of cash. 15% of food sales will go to Project Kinect. This will be an opportunity to get some last cravings from the food carts you love or try something you have been craving before the snow comes down! Some of the food carts attending are: UWSoHo, Slide, Curd Girl, Doubles Bubbles and many more. The Malt House will have live music and be the perfect place to obtain some libations.

Haunted Walk in the Woods
Grab a friend and go to the Haunted Woods Trail by Dane Co Humane Society. This year it is a benefit for Four Lakes Wildlife Center. Join the Humane Society for a spooky hike through the woods. There’s a "scary" trail each night of the event from 7-10 pm, and a kid-friendly version on Saturdays from 4-6 pm. It’s for a great cause and plus we all like to be scared a little.
