Fall is a happening time around Kansas City. There are so many free, or almost free, activities to do with your family.  Here are a few things going on this weekend around town. Who knows, you might even see The Harris Group out and about!

Lenexa Chili Challenge Oct. 17 & 18, Old Town Lenexa. The Sugar Mound Arts & Crafts Festival is held annually on the second full weekend in October at the Linn County Fairgrounds in historic Mound City, KS.

Enchanted Forest Oct. 17, 18, 24, & 25, George Owens Nature Park.  Set on the parks paved trail, children will be transported into the "Enchanted Forest."  Characters come to life as groups are guided along the candlelit trail.  The adventure ends with an old fashioned hayride.

Family Fun Festival at Children's Mercy Hospital Oct 18, 2014, Children's Mercy Hospital. Following the Kansas City Kids’ Marathon there will be a great Family Fun Festival, full of fun activities and entertainment for the entire family to enjoy.

Glow: A Jack-O-Lantern Festival Oct 18 - 19, at Powell Gardens. Festivities kick off Friday, Oct. 17, with a celebrity Jack-O-Lantern carving of some 25 jumbo pumpkins. These jumbo jacks will be incorporated into the festival’s centerpiece: the region’s largest Jack-O-Lantern display, which will shine for two magical evenings and feature 700 carved pumpkins. This more than triples the number of pumpkins displayed in previous years. The festival will feature a “Halloween at the Movies” theme and costumed classic movie icons will mingle with guests as they explore the festival. Along with the incredible Jack-O-Lantern display, visitors can enjoy pumpkin painting, hay rides, costumed characters, games, crafts, storytelling and more.

Maple Leaf Festival Oct. 18 & 19, Baldwin City, KS. Parade, craft fair, carnival and more.

Pumpkins On Parade Oct. 18, 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Cave Spring Park (8701 E. Gregory Boulevard, Raytown, MO). This free community event sponsored by Raytown Three Trails Kiwanis Club features trails lined with over 900 Jack O’Lanterns carved by local students, community groups, artists and the general public. In addition to the pumpkin trail, there will be games and food vendors.

Harvest Moon Festival Oct. 18, Peculiar, MO. Parade, Crafts, Vendors and more.

Warsaw Heritage Days Festival Oct. 18 - 19, Warsaw, MO. Historic displays and crafts at the Harry S. Truman Dam & Reservoir Visitor Center. Fall harvest celebration featuring the unique heritage of the area and its people.

John: It appears that you won't be busy selling real estate this weekend with all the fun things to do in your city. Looks like I wouldn't be either!
