Ask an Ambassador: Facebook changes, AR changes... what do we do?

Just recently I had a phone call from Thom Abbott because he was trying to add a post to his facebook business page and the photo that was showing up when posting the short url wasn't the photo from the post, and facebook wouldn't let him upload a new photo like it would in the past.  

He wanted to put the photo he wanted there and it just wasn't happening.  

What to do what to do?

Well use the Share button.  

Yes, right now the way to get the photo you have (it will allow the first photo from your post) in your post you click the share button and then arrow to the photo you want to display. I just shared a  post I write last week as a last minute reminder to folks that we're having a local festival tomorrow.  The photo is from a previous gathering. and it displayed as shown on the photo to the right.

I miss the "upload a photo" from facebook too, but at least I have figured out how to get the photo I want from an AR post to show up on Facebook.

Aloha Tammy,

Sometimes, it appears, that these changes are merely arbitrary nonsense, posed as improvement updates. It gets frustrating when you have to figure out what's going on especially if you don't have the time or frequent a particular social network. Well, I guess I know who to call now.

Tammy I have been searching high and low - ok just on AR - but I don't have the share buttons available on my blog! I checked my setting and the "remind me of Facebook..." section is checked. But no buttons. They were there once, but that was months ago.

Mike Kozlow, CFP®, MS-FP, GRI®, ABR®  if you don't have the buttons like are circled in red above they should be there.  What browser are you using?  I use chrome and they are there. I went to Internet Explorer and they are not there.  So download Chrome if you don't have it and want the share buttons.  

And Bob Stewart can you please notify whoever needs to be notified that the share buttons are not there on our blogs posts in IE and see if IT can fix that for those who use IE.  Please and thank you.

Tammy,

There was already an open ticket on this issue for a certain version of IE. It looks like after some testing it's affecting all IE users. That will get it moved up the list for a quicker fix. Thanks for the heads up.

I knew I could count on you to answer Bob Stewart and while I left IE behind a long time ago, my analytics shows that still nearly half of my website visitors using a desktop are still using it.  Thanks for letting me know 

Mike Kozlow, CFP®, MS-FP, GRI®, ABR® as you see above Bob said they were already working on this issue, but it is more widespread than they thought, so it's esculated closer to the top of the "get it fixed list" so hopefully very soon.
