Dragon Boat Festival 2014 at Sarasota Florida, USA
There are more than 2800 breast Cancer survivors from ten countries that will participate in this Dragon Boat Festival 2014 at Sarasota Florida, USA. All these pink ladies are here to show their sisterhood & survivorship’s unity.
This special Dragon Boat Festival is sanctioned by the International Breast Cancer Paddlers’ Commission. This is a FREE admission event with $5 parking fee. Men and women of all ages are welcome to join the fun, celebrate and support the Florida’s 1st Breast Cancer Survivor Dragon Boat Teams.
The following are the three days events schedule.
First Day October 24, 2014(Friday) – Dragon Boat Practice
Where: Nathan Benderson Park, 2500 N Honore Ave, Sarasota FL 34235
Time: 8:00am to 3:00pm
Opening Ceremony: 5:00pm – 6:00pm. Refreshment of wine and cheese will be served for team members at 5:30pm
Second Day October 25, 2014(Saturday) – Dragon Boat Racing
Where: Nathan Benderson Park, 2500 N Honore Ave, Sarasota FL 34235
Time: 8:00am to 4:00pm
Watch the boat racing during the day and enjoy the Parade of Nations at 6:30pm on Lakewood Ranch Main Street located at 8100 Lakewood Ranch Boulevard. At 7:00pm there is a Pink Paddlers Party. Third Day October 26, 2014(Sunday) – Dragon Boat Racing

1. One in every eight U.S women will get a breast cancer diagnosis in her lifetime
2. Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women
3. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death among women
4. Each year it is estimated that over 220,000 women in the U.S will be diagnosed with breast cancer
5. More than 40,000 women in the U.S. will die from Breast Cancer
6. Although breast cancer in men is rare, an estimated 2,150 men will get a diagnosis of breast cancer: some 410 will die each year
7. Death rates from breast cancer have been declining since around 1990. Partly because of better screening, early detection, increased awareness and continually improving treatment options.
8. In recent years, (perhaps coinciding with the decline in prescriptive hormone replacement therapy after menopause), a gradual reduction in female breast cancer incidence rates among women ages 50 and older was noticed.
