This Ain't Your Mama's House

I love first time home buyers. I love teaching them everything they want to know about Tracy Real Estate.  Susan Goulding, Tracy CA Realtor

When I get the priveledge to work with a first time home buyer, it can all go wonky when mom and dad get involved.

So today I heard...

When I bought a house I didn't have to give a good faith deposit.

When I bought a house the sellers fixed everything.

When I bought a house I didn't have to sign disclosures.

When I bought a house..... and the list went on and on.

Pretty much everything I said, Mama said, "When I bought a house (Fill in exactly the opposite of what I just said.)"

I don't want to be disrespectful, I really don't.  Mama isn't a real estate agent.  Mama bought her house 20 years ago.  I'm certain buying a home in Tracy is different now, than it was when Mama bought her home.

So, please Mom and Dad, I respect you.   I want you to be a part of the process. I want you child happy in the home they buy, but please let me do my job.  REALLY, I promise I'll treat your kids as if they were my own.

Love this post!  You summed up what we often deal with out in the field.  My response is usually to involve mom and dad in the solution process.  Asking questions about if they know anyone who has the skills to do such a repair, is that something you know how to fix and so on... I have found this usually results with a happy ending for all.

Susan, I just stumbled on this, and I love it!  So often, parents really want to help, and sometimes that's not how it shows up.
