KERRIE SAYS RELAX 10 IS THE NEW 20 NOW

By

Many are relieved for the news of blogs going BACK DOWN to 10 per week (points wise) from the 20 per week that was allowed. For a while there, it was interesting to see people who live for points and rankings (for whatever reasons) turn it up and toss them out. Quantity versus quality had prevailed

WHAT BECAME OF IT?

Many refused citing personal and professional reasons for not wanting or being able to rise to this carpel tunnel making challenge (lol) and just did not participate with all their ACTIVERAIN-HEARTS activated. I am reminded that the little things that people like or need to do, if played with or altered make a big difference in their participation. But how would you know this ahead of time? Four examples come to mind here

KEEPING PEOPLE WAITING

People want things and will spend their money for them whatever it is but keeping them waiting for the item or service goes against the call to purchase it. Long lines, products on back-order, parking if bricks & mortar and waiting to receive it... if online purchasing does affect sales. When money leaves your hands, you want something else in them...right there and then

DON'T HAVE TO ATTEND DRAWING TO WIN

Raffles and drawings with a chance to win a prize for little risk and involvement are always catching peoples attention. Lottery comes to mind. However, on those local ones, there used to be a rule that you had to attend the drawing to win. Sales were so-so. When they instituted a no need to be present to win, sales soared...

CHANGE YOUR OIL

Oil changes for you car are necessary and important. If you want to get into the hundreds of thousands of miles on your car, oil changes should get you there along with minor work on the way. Used to be where it took hours plus a big inconvenience to do this and people didn't and wouldn't do it. Now, its a no wait game and very inexpensive too. Drive-in and drive out...People will do it

REGISTER TO LOG-IN

Another controversial one is wanting people who visit with you online having to sign up to receive your services or to even enter into your web site. Many people just terminate at that point because of many reasons all valid. The point is...it defeats them finding you to begin with

THE NATURE OF THE HUMAN

Humans are like that. We move in swarms too depending on what is the activity. Apparently upping a doable blogging habit into quantity-land was collectively not a hit. Now, however, a new reality is upon us for nothing stays the same. It is simply this....

If we are back down to quality-land type blogging, then that is what people will expect i.e. quality. Let's see how that holds up starting now

Richie, my blogging has been really off for the last couple of months so dropping down to 10 doesn't really impact me too much. Unfortunately, a 30 in 30 challenge is coming up in November so you know what that means! I'll be writing about cleaning out my refrigerator again!

Richie, If 10 blog posts per week produces better quality posts than 20 per week, does it follow that five (5) per week would produce even better quality posts?

Back in my early years when I was posting regularly I actually posted 11 times one week. What? No points? Ye Gad. The problem as I discovered was not that I posted too much, but rather that I didn't know when the week was.  I thought it was a rolling seven day period, but I was wrong. I learned my lesson. No points, no "extra"  posts.

Now I post irregularly, but I think I have one coming out today. Watch for it because it affects men our age.

I love Bill's Bill Roberts  comment Richie.... I was fine with the 20 and I'll be fine with the 10.... I just don't get all the craziness about it... but there's a lot more important stuff going on in our world these days than 10 or 20 blog post a week... Happy Day

Bill...your opening sentence math captivates. I think of Lincolns speeches and how they all resonate. many wish there were more of them as he wrote his own and revealed his thinking....On blogging commenting etc. Barbara Todaro once told me that if you have post idea...then post it and don't wait. I am on that now

Beth...it is hard not to like Bill Roberts comment. As to you being fine with or without the numbers...that is a good place to be...yes?

Hello little Nicole...you remain true to yourself..a good thing...yes? Best

As far as I was concerned, the entire 20 thing made no sense and since I knew I couldn't keep up, I started to keep away............glad life is back to normal around here!

I am okay with the change and was okay with the other too. It won't change what I do or how I do it. Many days it was just fun but must say I saw a lot of frivolous posts and hope that slows down.

I post market reports all the time, so yes, it did boost me up the point ladder, but I post them anyway, only now to just my website.

I think the griping came from bloggers who gained their points the hard way and resented others being able to catch up and pass them quicker.  And I can understand that too.  It takes time to gain standing and we spent many hours and weeks and even years to get where we are.

I like the perspective that "10 is the new 20" will lead to better quality.

Because, be it Active Rain or anything else, better quality is always good.
