I Don’t Have Anything to Do
I ran into an agent I’ve known for years at the grocery store the other day and we both asked our normal “how’s business” question. His response made me pause for a minute – it wasn’t one I’d ever expect to hear. He said he doesn’t have any buyers or sellers at this time and didn’t have anything to do. This is the annual slowdown that I see every year so I understand not having as much to do but, to say nothing is just unreal to me.
Juggling 8-10 clients at a time is completely different than 2-3 but, even with the slowdown I always have something to do. There hasn’t been a day since I got into real estate that I don’t wake up and have items that need to get taken care of. When the annual slowdown comes that’s a time for me to work on notes for Christmas cards, start getting tax documents in order, catch up on file organization from the summer rush, and plan for next year. That’s in addition to the daily tasks that are on the list; follow up calls, listing pulls, blogging, etc.
Planning your business takes consistent effort and in Real Estate no matter how many clients you have there’s always something to do. If I didn’t have any clients I’d hope one thing on my list would be prospecting but, then again that should be an everyday type item. I don’t have anything to do are words that will never come out of my mouth as long as I’m in Real Estate.
