Think & Grow Your Business

Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Professional Realty Group 70735

As the great Henry Ford once said, “Whether you think you can, or you think you can't--you're right.”

This is such an incredibly true statement and so incredibly challenging to execute on a daily basis.

I was shopping with my wife the other day when I heard from across the store, “Hey, there’s that guy who thinks that he is a real estate agent.”  Naturally, my head turned in his direction as quick as lightening to see who this person was talking about me (or another real estate agent that happened to be in the store as well) so obnoxiously in the middle of this huge and crowded department store.

Once I saw who it was, I immediately started laughing out loud as I discovered it was a client of mine who was simply messing with me.   I went up to him and shook his hand as he laughed and said “thinking you are a real estate agent is half the battle, isn’t it”.   He actually said “ain’t it” (remember…I’m in Kentucky!)

He was on the right track with what he was saying.  However, I believe that it’s way more than half the battle.  It’s more like 90% if you ask me!  There is a lot that goes into running a successful business as a Realtor i.e. prospecting, marketing, customer service, management, systems etc.   However, mindset is the most IMPORTANT and the most NEGLECTED.

As Realtors, until we “think” of ourselves as successful and professional business people and carry with us a consistent mindset of gratitude and positivity, we will never reach our full potential.  Once this mindset is consistently achieved, it will impact our businesses in tremendous ways.  We will handle our business in such a way that we will attract clients to our services and will be able to build a business based on referrals, instead of countless direct mail mailings and door knocking.

So, let's start working on positive and productive daily habits that affect our mindset and watch our businesses grow as a result.

Hi Ryan, welcome to Activerain. Mindset is so important. Henry Ford was 100% right. How we see ourselves is how others will see us.

New and experienced agents suffere from this! I hear agents all the time moan and groan about how bad it is, and they are getting exactly what they keep telling themselves!

Great post. If you think you're a bad agent what are other people supposed to think? Think positively and good things will come.

Your purpose in life, why you were planted as a seed on planet Earth or whatever spinning marble in the solar system. Your skill set, temperament make you ideal for playing the part in your life called "career". But being suited for real estate starts ends with knowing this is a business. Everything like Henry Ford knew rides on a chassis, frame called business. That is where the rubber meets the road. Nice person, loves houses, does not make that cat or dudette ideally suited to be a real estate professional. Find your niche, if is is not real estate good luck and keep looking.

It is done to us as we believe. Many roam the earth uttering their fates via complaints, negativity, judgment, doubt and confusion and have no clue as to the part they play or are not playing..."they know not what they do" is more accurate a statement than people realize. When appreciating that, "forgive them" makes a lot of good sense...good posting here and thank you

Way to go Ryan.

What caught my attention is.... my friends are just like yours.  Sure, they are supportive and love me and I feel blessed to have so many friends, and yet, most of them would get no better thrill than to just razz me in a good natured way.

And....yes, I do the same.  I'm thinking you've pulled that stunt too, right?

Hello Ryan and Welcome to ActiveRain. You are absolutely correct about mindset. If you don't think of yourself professionally, you won't project tht image and no one will treat as a professional.
