Creativity, Websites and Realtors

Do the three things in the title of this blog commonly go together?  You know the answer to that! NO!  Realtors have websites but these are not typically marked by creativity or originality.  Now, this is not a problem for realtors alone ... quite a few other professionals in all lines of work simply throw websites together and wash their hands of it.  Or better still, they will use templates that every other realtor uses and not invest the time to create differentiating content that will capture the ever-shrinking pool of profitable leads.

Either way, an enormous tool goes unwielded on the behalf of the realtor.

"Why is my website not drawing in any leads?"

"I know others say their websites are generating business for them but mine is not ... why??  and what can I do??"

Studies show that when websites do not differentiate their owners from the rest of the pack, the owners suffer a predictable lack of business.  However, when a website truly rises above the rest in functionality, usefulness and utility to the marketplace, the owners enjoy abundant business.

Creativity is one of the keys in making any website differentiated in the marketplace.  Yet creativity is not in wide supply in today's economy ... why?  Why is this??

Creativity is a dangerous commodity ... creativity might lead a person to frame a problem just a wee bit differently than the next person therefore leading to a solution that just might be a wee bit different than the rest of the pack.  And the solution just might lead to a wee bit more business, right?

Creativity is defined by Webster's as "the ability to transcend traditional ideas, rules, patterns, relationships, or the like, and to create meaningful new ideas, forms, methods, interpretations, etc.; originality, progressiveness, or imagination".

Next post will tackle creativity on a bit deeper level.  Dare to be creative!

Terry,

This is a great article!

Congratulations, it was included in the most recent Unsung and Overlooked collection.

This should get it a little more exposure :)

I checked the links to both your's and John's website.  John's went to a porno site.  You may want to edite your post to delete that link.

Terry,
As I work on my website I will keep your post in the forefront of my mind.  You're right --creativity is important and that is why its taking me so long to revamp the site.

Congrats on being recognized in the collection!

Terry, point well taken.  I've got to work on that template site of mine.  The capacity is there for me to change as I see fit but I haven't made the time.

Too bad I did not read Randy's comment prior to clicking on johnhomes.com.  OMGosh!!!  It took me to a porno site and I had to click real fast outta there.  Now I gotta clean up the history on my pc too.

Terry thanks for alerting me to the TYPO on my comment regarding Johns web site. I did try to correct by editing the link and saving it. I then logged out and checked to see if the edit worked, the correction showed up. However when I used the new link it still went to the old link. Not sure why so I deleted the post all together. Sorry for the confusion.
