Ice Skating Rinks In NYC 2014 Season

Yes you read correctly, ice skating is here already!  Not many get the opportunity to enjoy skating at Rockefeller Center so here are six other options throughout the NYC boro's.

 

 

 

The Rink at Bryant Park

 

Part of the larger Winter Village, the 170-by-100-foot Rink at Bryant Park is in close proximity to the Christmas tree, two-story Celsius bar and shopping. Located between 40th and 42nd streets and Fifth and Sixth avenues.

Hours: 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Mondays, noon-10 p.m. Tuesdays, 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Wednesdays-Thursdays, 8 a.m.-midnight Fridays-Saturdays, 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Sundays; open through March 1

Cost: free; $15 skate rental; $9 for a lock

Wollman Rink, Central Park

 

Skate with the Manhattan skyline behind you at Wollman Rink in Central Park, at 63rd Street. It's open Oct. 24-April 5.

Hours: 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Mondays-Tuesdays, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Wednesdays-Thursdays, 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Fridays, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturdays-Sundays

Cost: $11.25 adults ($18 Fridays-Sundays), $6 ages 11 and younger; $8 skate rental; $11 lock rental ($6 refundable)

Lasker Rink, Central Park

 

At the northernmost end of Central Park, near the entrance at 110th Street and Lenox Avenue, sits Lasker Rink, the lesser-known of the park's two ice skating venues.

Hours: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays, 10 a.m.-4:50 p.m. and 6-11 p.m. Fridays, 1-11 p.m. Saturdays, 12:30-4:30 p.m. Sundays; open Oct. 26-March 22.

Cost: $7.50 adults, $4 ages 12 and younger; $6.50 skate rental; $7.25 lock rental ($4 refundable)

The Rink at Rockefeller Center

 

You'll be heading there to check out the Christmas tree (the lighting ceremony is Dec. 3), so why not take a lap or 50 around The Rink at Rockefeller Center? It holds 125 people.

Hours: open daily 8:30 a.m.-midnight, with occasional 30-minute breaks

Cost: $27 ($30 during peak times), $15 ages 11 and younger; $12 skate rental; open through April

LeFrak Center at Lakeside, Prospect Park

 

Opened just last December in Propect Park, near the Parkside and Ocean Avenue entrance, LeFrak Center at Lakeside consists of two open-air, connected rinks.

Hours: 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesdays-Thursdays, 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Fridays, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturdays, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sundays; open Oct. 25-March 22

Cost: $6 all ages, $8 weekends; $6 skate rental, $3-$8 lockers

McCarren Rink, McCarren Park

 

Last winter, Greenpoint's McCarren Park opened a winter response to its popular pool with McCarren Rink, 776 Lorimer St., which holds about 300 skaters.

Hours: an opening date for fall 2014 is still to be determined

Cost: $8 adults, $5 students, $4 ages 12 and younger; $5 skate rental

World Ice Arena, Flushing Meadows Corona Park

 

The World Ice Arena, located at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens at Avery Avenue and 131st Street, is open all year long.

Hours: 9 a.m.-5:15 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays, 9 a.m.-5:15 p.m. and 7-9:50 p.m. Fridays, noon-4:45 p.m. and 8-9:50 p.m. Saturdays, noon-4:45 p.m. Sundays

Cost: $6 weekdays, $9 weekends; $5 skate rental; 75-cent locker rentals
