Halloween Events in the Inland Empire for October 31, 2014

Redlands- A variety of activities are scheduled on Halloween, Thursday Oct. 31, beginning with Safe Trick-or-Treat in Historic Downtown Redlands from 3 to 6 p.m.

Redlands- During Safe Trick-or-Treat, story times and music are featured in Ed Hales Park from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.  Children will be able to listen to friendly costumed taletellers and receive a Halloween treat, courtesy of the Frugal Frigate and the Sixth Street School of Music.

Redlands- At 6 p.m. bring your costumed pets to 419 E. State St. for the annual “Furr-kids” costume contest for a chance to win great prizes, compliments of Furry Face.

Redlands- Halloween Happenin’ at Trinty Church: games, candy, live music, 5:30-8:30 p.m. Oct. 31, free, 1551 Reservoir Road, Redlands, 909-335-7333, ext. 215. www.trintyonline.org

Calimesa- From 3-5 pm, bring your kids to the Calimesa Library at 974 Calimesa Boulevard, Calimesa CA 92320 on Oct.31. Free.

ColtonKids Fall Fiction Costume Party at Colton Public Library: children of all ages dress up as a favorite fiction character and listen to stories, play games and more. 3 p.m. Oct. 29, free. 656 N. Ninth St., Colton, 909-370-5083. www.ci.colton.ca.us

Pomona- Spooktacular Event at Indoor Swap Meet: Each child will receive a trick-or-treat bag with a $5 gift certificate. Costume contest registration begins at 11 a.m. and contest begins at noon, trick-or-treat from 3-5 p.m. Oct. 31, 1600 E. Holt Blvd., Pomona, 909-620-5083. www.indoorswamp.com

Upland- Scary-A-Faire Celebration: costume contest from 5-7:10 p.m. Oct. 31. Costumes judged in the following categories: best character, scariest, most creative, judges choice and cutest (0-4 years, family and groups). Pomona- A Night in Old Spadra Cemetery: The Historical Society of Pomona Valley Inc. will conduct guided tours of the settler’s cemetery to learn about life and death in old Spadra. Tours last about 45 minutes. Flashlights and walking shoes are suggested. Tours start at 8 p.m., last tour at 1 a.m. Oct. 31. Certainly is lots of Halloween activities in your area. With the advent of the shopping centers doing the Halloween thing just don't have that many Trick or Treaters anymore. Was always fun to see the kids grow.

I think parents feel it is safer and more well lit plus lots of costume parades which are fun for the kids.
