Do You Use Fly Paper Marketing?

By
Real Estate Agent with Peaks Real Estate

In the realm of real estate websites, there are several goals every online portal should strive to deliver to real estate consumers. A real estate website should help consumers enjoy an easier search experience, allow them to quickly find the information they want, offer user-friendly Telluride property search tools and enable the website visitor to be in greater control of every aspect of research and fact-finding while assuring them their personal identity will always be respected. I'm told that means my website needs to be "sticky". But not in an adversarial way.

Nice People are "Attractive"

While reading my Telluride newspaper website, I stumbled upon an article that caught my eye. The title was "Literally Speaking." The article in a nutshell is about being "nice" in all our relationships, personal and business related. One of the key references we are all familiar with is "you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar". Another reference used in the article included how fly paper works. FYI... I believe people are people and they are not flies. But I do like the idea of offering a sweeter approach to attracting people. In other words, I want to be "attractive." I think that quality comes through my Telluride Condo website too.

Protecting Those Who Visit Your Website

If we are going to be literal, let's get one thing straight right up front, people who visit my website (or any other website) are real people who deserve to be treated with the utmost respect. Unfortunately, there are many real estate training courses being offered where consumers are constantly being referred to as "leads". I think that term is de-humanizing and establishes a "us against them mentality". When I visit a website to find information or make a purchase, I want to be treated with respect too. If I do decide to provide my name and email address I want to be assured that the site owner will not immediately (or later) fill my inbox with spam emails or sell, rent or share my private information with anyone. Internet empowered real estate consumers want those same privacy assurances from us. That being said, whenever a consumer makes any request on the Telluride Condo Hotline website, they are told their personal information is positively safe and will never be shared, rented or sold to any third party!

Back to the Fly Paper Marketing Idea

This is a tough business fraught with emotional, stressful situations but we can be nice people in the midst of a difficult situation. That means we need to be genuine, honest, act with integrity, be polite, and even be "sweet". If we are, we will be "sticky people" who are more attractive to consumers. Now that's real success!

Until my next update,

Betty

Totally.  Law of attraction states you get what you ask for.  You focus on being nice and genuine...you will attract those people.   I tell my agents....when they dont answer their phone because they are "screening phone calls." They are only attracting people they call to be screening phone calls. lol

100% agree with this anf Dave's comment above. When we step back and really look at every single thing in our life and realize that we atracted it there whether we like it or not is absolutely amazing. I know that I only want to work with friendly people....so I must stay friendly! Thanks for posting!

I hope your message sticks to some of the realtor(r)s I have been dealing with lately!  I can't believe how some people act!  It is too bad.  I hope some honey goes a long way.
