Spooktacular = Delete without reading

I spent most of the day getting a report ready for the DNR, got it finished and emailed out just before 4:30 today, then proceeded to celebrate by going through my email.

One irritating trend seemed to be prevalent in my emails, there seemed to be at least a hundred and fifty ill advised marketers and others who seemed to think that business needs to be tied to halloween.

Since I would never want to reward anyone for doing such an irritating thing as to offer me a "spooktackular deal", I just went through the emails very quickly and deleted everything that hinted that business has something to do with halloween.

Even one of my favorites, The KCM blog, had a halloween infographic, but at least they did not mention halloween in the subject line, so I held off on deleting that one until after I opened it.

Kind of wondering why the sellers that list with Hubzu would discount their properties for this silly event, or is it just a lie?

Well it will be over tomorrow, then we can look forward to 2 months of black Friday, black Monday etc sales that seem to have expanded from the ridiculous spend-a-thon that occurs every year just after thanksgiving.

My email was full of halloween saving event specials, too. And I have to agree with you...this whole Black Friday, Cyber Monday, or whatever it's called, thing is way out of control. It kind of takes all the challenge out of the real Black Friday.

Every holiday is marketing time now, it seems, rather than celebration and "down" time.  I did black Friday once, and never again.  I refuse to buy any holidays gifts from businesses that open on Thanksgiving evening as well.

Bob, Seems we were blasted with silly Halloween marketing emails today.  I sorted "Halloween" by subject and just as you, hit delete.

Retail businesses are finding more and more ways/holidays to celebrate so they can sell more product, that's for sure.
