Don't wait too long to stop in for a visit, it may be too late.

Don't wait too long to stop in for a visit, it may be too late.

I drive by Thorp Wisconsin often as I travel between my Forestry offices in Steven Point and Cadott Wisconsin and as I drive by I often think to myself, “I should stop and see Ed someday soon”.

Ed is a Real Estate Broker who has sold several properties for me and we have been referring clients to each other for decades.

And more importantly Ed is a friend who is always a pleasure to talk to and share stories, advice, and business.

Erica Ramus suggested that we stop by and visit some of our friends and colleagues this month and I thought that this would be a good time to actually take an hour or so to stop and visit and reconnect with Ed.

Unfortunately I was too late, as with far too many friends these days, Ed is no longer with us.

I feel bad for not taking the time to keep in touch, and he is not the only one that has surprised me by leaving this world before we could talk one more time.

Perhaps a change in in order before I lose any more friends.

I had been sending business his way, I sent several potential clients his way in the past few months, and should have noticed that he never called when he heard from them.

Hopefully I will take this far too delayed coffee break as a lesson and a warning and spend a little more time keeping in touch with old and new friends.

Good morning Bob. When you drive by without stopping, that is an opportunity lost, but at this point you will always have the opportunity to remember your friend.

Make it a great weekend!

Good morning Bob,

I'm sorry to hear of your loss too..Life happens and sometimes we are just checked out on some levels for awhile and a jolt like this will make you more aware of how time passes. Stuff happens. Your story made me stop and think there are some others I need to make time for!

Good morning Bob,

I too am very sorry for your loss.  We humans tend to always think we have time, we have tomorrow.  Fact is we just never know and should make every second of every day count.

Wow! This is a good reminder for all of us. Nothing is guaranteed - no day and no time. There is no time like the present to tell people you love and care about them and a visit is a wonderful way to do that. I am so sorry for the loss of your friend.

Bob, We never know what our futures hold, and a sudden passing of an acquaintenance places so many questions in our minds.  Sometimes I think it's because it reminds us of our own mortality.

Hi Bob,

So sorry to hear about your friend Ed. This is a good reminder for all of us.

In 2009, my father-in-law was sick and went to the hospital and then to a convalescent hospital rather quickly. I pondered for several days about taking my chihuahua to visit and thought I would sneak her in. I waited a week and a half and then I got the call that he had died that morning of a heart attack. I have always regretted not going to see him and he loved my little dog Tootie. We all procrastinate Bob but sure Ed knew how much you thought of him.
