Hello all! Aimee here blogging on behalf of Kline May Realty and our family of agents. Last week, I wrote about preparing a welcome basket for your guests, and this week, I'd like to continue chatting about guest rooms. The focus will be on sofa beds!

Recently, my husband and I purchased a sofa bed from Grand's Home Furniture, complete with an ottoman. It's a very comfy couch, especially because of the ottoman, but the sofa bed had a lot of room for improvement. You could feel the coils in your back when you slept, and you kind of sunk towards the middle of the bed in your sleep. But alas, there's hope for even the most uncomfortable of sofa bed mattresses, and the solution won't break the bank!

In our possession, we now have a 1.5 inch Sleeper Sofa Memory Foam Mattress Topper that fits right on our sofa bed mattress. Sleep Master makes the topper, and it's just under $55! Best news is: Our most recent guests reported that they slept like a charm. I won't say "sleep like a baby." I have one at home, and I'm not convinced the person who came up with the "sleep like a baby" saying is sane.

The best thing about the topper? You don't have to store it when it's not in use because it folds right into your couch on top of the mattress. How cool is that?Other tips for making your sofa bed as luxurious as possible include sheets with a great thread count, comfy pillows, and some people even cut a piece of 3/4" plywood the size of the bed and place that under the mattress when the bed is in use. Apparently, it helps to protect your back from those dreaded coils. Sounds a bit complicated to me, but maybe it'll work for you!

You mean you're supposed to make house guests comfortable?? Here I thought sofa beds were deliberately awful so guests wouldn't hang around! Well, if I'm having someone over I actually like I will absolutely take your advice . Thanks for sharing, Aimee.

Don't have house guests anymore.  I encourage them to stay in a hotel.  Everyone's much happier.  Those memory foam toppers are great though.  The gel ones keep you cool, too.
