I was part of a First Time Home Buyer Seminar and at my close I said:
- Buy one. Buy two. Heck, buy as many houses as you can. Anyone who has any wealth has real esate as part of their portfolio.
- For most of us there are two ways of building wealth: buying real estate and/or getting a degree.
- When people dream, they dream of being home owners not renters.
- You need a place to live, right?
- Interest rates are still low.
- And last: "Don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today." The Ben Franklin quote on procrastination, you know.
One guy in the back says: "I respectfully disagree with that, Ernest. In 2007 I bought a house that I later lost. Everyone was telling me to buy, buy, buy. If I had waited I would have totally avoided losing my house."
What do I say to him? Of course, I'm sorry he lost his home.
"Ah. OK."
"'Good things come to those who wait.' Does that sound better to you, sir?"
