Earnest Reasons To Buy A House

Ben Franklin

I was part of a First Time Home Buyer Seminar and at my close I said:

  1. Buy one. Buy two. Heck, buy as many houses as you can. Anyone who has any wealth has real esate as part of their portfolio.
  2. For most of us there are two ways of building wealth: buying real estate and/or getting a degree.
  3. When people dream, they dream of being home owners not renters.
  4. You need a place to live, right?
  5. Interest rates are still low.
  6. And last: "Don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today." The Ben Franklin quote on procrastination, you know.

One guy in the back says: "I respectfully disagree with that, Ernest. In 2007 I bought a house that I later lost. Everyone was telling me to buy, buy, buy. If I had waited I would have totally avoided losing my house."

What do I say to him? Of course, I'm sorry he lost his home.

"Ah. OK."

"'Good things come to those who wait.' Does that sound better to you, sir?"

Ernest, I think the difference between success and the lack of it in RE is "Action" but like anything else you need an exit strategy to cut your holding costs. People with fixers that are looking to resell them should be hiring you to market the fixed up house as they are fixing it up. Having that buyer signed on the dotted line before they complete the work is what we suggest.
