This is the one... let's get you paid!

Real Estate Agent with Jameson Sotheby's International Realty

We'd been searching for a home for this lovely young couple for a year or more, on and off.  We'd looked in the burbs, we'd looked in the city. We saw condos that were gorgeous, and townhomes that were not.  Near downtown, and underneath the highways.  We'd investigated everything.

Sometimes we jumped out to view a single home, and sometimes we made a day of it.  When we weren't able to find something they loved, last year, they renewed their lease where they were renting, and put the search off for the better part of a year.

Recently we'd started looking again, as the end of their lease was up and coming. We'd just looked at a home that suited them very well.  Very well.  So he said to me "This is the one, let's get you paid", meaning to me... "let's write it up".  As you can imagine, that phrase warms the cockles of my heart.

But I was more impressed with the fact that he understood that I don't get paid until they buy something, and that I'd been working hard for them for a long time without being paid.   So many consumers just don't understand that at all.

You gotta love when that happens.... A little recognition goes a long way.

That is always a good feeling when your clients recognize how hard you've worked for them and they are just as ready for you to get rewarded for your efforts.

Alan- I agree, it's always nice when you see that others are aware of what you do and just how you get paid.  And, that they want to make it happen for you.

Clients that have been in a commission business usually 'get' how we get paid and it's always nice to hear them voice it and care about us!

Very nice on their part - and the way it should be.  If I have that "talk" with new clients just as we're starting out, it usually ends up like this.  It's just about educating them along the way.

It is very refreshing when your clients understand the work that you do for them and they appreciate it.  So many times buyers don't take us into the equation.  Congrats on finding them a home :)!

Some clients take longer than others to find the right place.  As long as they show real interest i will hang in there.

A nice set of buyers that recognized that if they couldn't find the house early on it wasn't because you weren't showing them something that another agent had as a pocket listing.  Some buyers will jump ship on the agent thinking it's the agent's fault.

Sticktooativeness!  Is that a word?  You've got it and I'm glad it's paying off.  As long as the buyer is serious, qualified and realistic, it's good to hang around until "the one" finally shows up. Well done!

Hi Alan.  A little bit of appreciation makes up for a lot.  I don't mind going above or  beyond or, as in your case, way too long, but I resent being taken for granted!
