The average home in America sells for a little over $200,000, and the average FSBO sells for around $150,000. That’s the average nationally. The point is many, many, many, many percentage points less." He goes on to explain that FSBO does not have the exposure that a good realtor can provide, that a professional in the business brings a lot of experience to the table in pricing and negotiating.
According to the National Association of Realtors, the most difficult tasks for FSBO sellers:
- Understanding and performing paperwork: 18%
- Getting the right price: 13%
- Preparing/fixing up home for sale: 12%
- Helping buyer obtain financing: 3%
- Attracting potential buyers: 3%
- Selling within the planned length of time: 7%
- Having enough time to devote to all aspects of the sale: 6%
