We all know the realtors mantra, location, location, location. A rehabber’s mantra should be granite, granite, granite. A while back I wrote about not skimping on materials, one of them being granite countertops. My videos on You Tube show the house that I've been involved in the funding of the purchase and rehab. I'm video recording the tear down and rebuild, step by step which has become a job all by itself. I stress to never discount the final touches, especially the counter tops.
There was an article in our local paper, the Detroit Free Press about the process of faux painting your laminate countertops to look like granite. We shudder to think a professional real estate investor would go so far (or stoop so low) as to paint their countertops thinking that it will help the sale. In the typical Detroit area rehab adding granite countertops may cost another $1,000, and our opinion, money well spent. Even the realtor in the story stated that out of their four equally comparable property showings, the one with the granite countertops will be the one to sell. So start thinking to yourself, granite, granite, granite, or marble, or any other stone! If you’d like more information give us a call at (248) 547-3006 or visit our web-site at www.metro-mi.com. And step away from the paint brush, we promise not to hurt you.
