Let’s always remember to salute our service members and veterans, but especially in the coming week.
Veterans Day, November 11th, is a very important holiday and it’s unfortunate too many Americans just don’t get. They don't get it in a couple of ways – they don’t get the “importance of the day” and they don’t “get it off” from work... and that's too bad both for them and for those honored on this day.
Armistice Day was proclaimed on November 11, 1919 by President Woodrow Wilson “to reflect upon those heros who died in the country's service and with gratitude for the victory in the War to End All Wars, World War I.” On June 1, 1954, following World War II and the Korean War, President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed legislation replacing "Armistice" with "Veterans," to honor Americans veterans of all wars, and it has been known as Veterans Day since.
Let’s remember to salute our service members and veterans, and thank them for the beautiful American flag waving for our freedom.

A special thank you to my father-in-law, the late Joseph Sr. and my husband, Joseph II, photos:1943 and 1965 respectively.
