Have you wondered what to do with left-over Halloween candy? Did you know you can donate your leftover Halloween candy to our troops via the Operation Gratitude program? If you've got any candy left over, please think about doing so--it's not too late to do so. (It's got to be a better idea than to nibble through all the extra candy in the weeks to come!)
You'll need to ship your candy no later than November 15th as follows:
SHIP TO: Operation Gratitude
17330 Victory Boulevard
Van Nuys, CA 91406-5438
ATTN: Halloween Candy/Angel Cuevas
When shipping candy, Operation Gratitude asks that you:
- Don't use boxes larger than 24"x24"x24"
- Separate chocolate and non-chocolate candy
- Don't send Pixy Stix
- Put loose candy into zip-lock bags
And if you can, please include some individually-packaged toothbrushes, dental floss, and toothpaste in your "care" package. (By the way, financial donations are also appreciated if you can't do a care package.)
Click here for detailed information about the 2014 Halloween Candy For The Troops Program. This link to the Operations Gratitude Blog also provides information on how you can organize and publicize a candy collection event (maybe too late this year, but you can sure plan it for 2015). What a great idea for kids to get involved in doing something great at Halloween time!
Operation Gratitude sends more than 150,000 care packages annually filled with snacks, entertainment, hygiene and hand-made items, plus personal letters of appreciation, to New Recruits, Veterans, First Responders, Wounded Warriors, Care Givers and to individually named U.S. Service Members deployed overseas. They would also love for you to like the Operation Gratitude Facebook Page.
I've got several bags of candy left over from Halloween--and I'll be packaging them up to send to Operation Gratitude by November 15th. Please join me in doing so and in spreading the word about this great program. November is a great month to show gratitude--why not pay it forward to our brave military who sacrifice so much?
