Three things you should do before you write your blogs.

 

1.Do a long tail keywords and short tail keywords search using Google Ads Keyword Planner.( Of course you need to have a Google gmail account to use that one) Also sites Three things you can do before you write blogs.like SEOMOZWord stream Long tail keywords and Wordtracker are sites that cover the topics long tail keywords and short tail keywords. Doing a keyword search you will know which keywords to target by what people are typing into the search engines which can help improve your chances of people who are typing those shorttail and longtail keywords find you in the search engines. Spyfu I hear is a great tool to help you find profitable keywords. It costs $79.95 a month. But the site helps exposes the search marketing secret formula of your most successful competitors. It also eliminate bad keywords and find the best Ad Copy.

 

 

2. Know your purpose. What is the main purpose of you writing this blog? Are you writing this blog to get new home buyers? Sellers? Real Estate Investors? Vendors to help you with your marketing budget? Partner with a New Home Developer/Builder? Are you trying to recruit talent to your team or office? Are you trying to share a valuable tip/tool that helped secured a recent home buyer or seller? The possiblities are endless. Ex: If you are writing a blog to target home buyers and sellers, I think it would be helpful to read reports such as Reports such as ,NAR 2014 Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers,,2013 NAR Home Buyer Seller Generational Trends and Who is the First Time Homebuyer? A Demographic Profile-New American Funding by Ashley Bailey are worth reading to know your home buyers and sellers age range,lifestyle,education and tools they use to search online.

 

 

3. Know the message that you want to get across to who you are targeting. If you are targeting home buyers,you should get your message across to potential home buyers why buying a house will cost you less than renting a house or apartment,why now is a great time to buy a house instead of waiting 4-6 months later when it will cost them say an additional $75,000 more to buy a house-Show them charts of Interest rates from over the year to help you get your point across,Why this is a great time to invest in Real Estate, Now is the time to sell your house because there will be less competition,Interest rates are very low-One good reason why you should buy a house now,Buying a house will increase your wealth,Cost vs Value report-Adding a bathroom to your house will increase the value of your house 16%. So when it's time to sell your house,you can end up making an additional $25,000 more than you would've made if you didn't add the bathroom. One reason to sell your house now and buy another one now.

 

 

 

And if you are targeting loan officers,home inspectors or title companies as vendors you should let them know that partnering with me is a WIN-WIN situation. Also let them know that you will cater to their clients needs. Sell your Unique Selling Proposition and WOW them. Remember loan officers,home Inspectors,appraisers and title companies know people who are potential home buyers and sellers too. After you have done all of this,you want to make sure that you post your message/blog where your audience is at. Your audience which are normally home buyers and sellers are normally in certain groups such as certain LinkedIn groups like say Real Estate Networks,Young Professionals,Single Mothers,Real Estate Investors,International Home Buyers etc.,Now Notice I said certain not all. You don't want to send your blogs about selling your home or "staging your house before you put in on the market for sale" to apartment renters or people who collect art and antique cars. Or people who drink wine. I use to do that myself. But I will get a message from moderator of those groups saying that this is the wrong place to post this blog.

 

 

 

Even Active Rain Massachusetts Real Estate Superstar BIll Gassett have to remind me everytime that I post certain things on Google+ that I shouldn't post on their that it shouldn't be public. ( I'm still trying Bill). You know that they say "Every size doesn't fit". And that is which is why you shouldn't market your message to everybody. But if you are posting your blogs in certain groups on LinkedIn,I think upgrading to a LinkedIn premium account should be taking into serious consideration since LinkedIn members has the highest household income than any of the major Social Networking sites out there. Facebook Ads. Now Notice I said Facebook Ads and not just post your blogs on your Facebook personal or business pages. Someone said that posting your blogs on your Facebook personal or business pages reaches only 60% of your Facebook friends/Followers. Unless all of your Facebook friends are potential home buyers and sellers,your message won't get across to potential home buyers and selless that you are targeting. Many Real Estate Agents I hear now are having success with Facebook Ads. Facebook Ads is the new home buyer and seller lead generating system that many real estate agents are now using.

 

 

Focus on getting your message to your main audience that you are targeting and you can improve your chances of generating more home buyer and seller leads that will lead to closing.

Keywords are important.  Writing engaging content is also important. Combining both are a dream.  Not always possible but also not always mutually exclusive.  I do try to write targeted posts with keywords for buyers and sellers, market reports and the like are great peppered with keywords.  But, writing about local holiday displays doesn't always lend itself to that strategy. My goal is to get the consumer to the site or blog and keep them there with well-written, interesting local content.

Lanre, Solid advice for those wanting to boost their business via blogging!  For the most part I don't personally research keywords, but often the topics I'm covering are long tail prone without much local competition, so it works anyway :)

Lanre, I know that I should be doing all these things.

But at the end of the day, I generally just sit down and write whatever comes to mind.

Hopefully is it something benificial to those who stop by to read it, and google seems to like it so it is doing some good there at least.

But if we are supposed to lead generate on the telephone at least 3 hours a day something that many of us are not doing,then I think we can spend a good hr or so to research and write content that will improve our chances of capturing potential home buyers and sellers. I haven't generated many leads from my blogs like I want. And that's why I have to do these things that I mentioned.

Liz and Bill Spear -BLIZ you are pros when it comes to writing blogs so I know you are not having any problems. I just don't want to write blogs anymore hoping that I will generate leads. I want to be like you all and write blogs that I know will definitely generate me home buyer and possible seller leads. My leads have drastically decreased this year. I am trying to do new things to increase my home buyer and seller leads.

Michele Cadogan -We all know that blogging requires a lot of work. But I'd rather spend a good 2 hrs researching and writing a very good blog that will generate leads that to post a blog in less than 30 minutes just to get some points. I'm still working on that.
