We had dinner with my son and his family a few days ago. My daughter-in-law was complaining about a terrible experience she had with the CVS Photo Kiosk. It seems that she was trying to get the invitations for my grandson's birthday party printed and they just didn't come out quite right. My grandson will be 5 years old the first part of December.
My daughter-in-law showed us the invitation proof that she was displeased with, which I read from top to bottom. It seems my grandson has on his own, decided that he wants to have his party at The Home Depot,
during one of there "do it yourself" classes, so that he and his little friends can learn to build something or repair something or whatever that particular class on that Saturday will entail. I guess The Home Depot plays host to birthday parties on a regular basis, at least the one in my son's neighborhood. After the "DIY" class, tables will be set up in an aisle in the store and they will have their cake and celebration right in the middle of one of the depatments of the store! You need to supply your own cake and so forth, but The Home Depot will provide the space, and it is not some private room off in the corner somewhere.
I cannot believe that my grandson chose this venue and activity for his party. It is really pretty unique and very different. He has always enjoyed getting play tools for birthdays past and holidays, etc., but I didn't realize his tendency toward being a builder. My son did a lot of work around their house when he first bought it several years ago, but things seem to be more complicated and time-consuming than my son can handle, so most of the remodeling work and repair work are done by contractors that my son hires. So, I doubt that my grandson is taking after his father.
Not long ago they had a problem with their air conditioning system that was a retro-fit with the air handler and so forth in the attic. The pan under the system cracked due to improper installation and water slowly soaked into their ceilings on the second floor until they collapsed, exposing the problem. You can imagine the work to repair this problem, and my grandson was right in the thick of things as the work progressed. I guess that we have a contractor in the making right before our eyes and didn't realize it! Happy Birthday Ethan!
