The Taj Kabob and Curry
Indian restaurant at 654 N 114th Street in Omaha, NE 68154. Just north of 114th and Dodge in central Omaha.
I had a wonderful meal this evening at The Taj in Omaha! My Aunt is in town from Chicago for the weekend, and she suggested Indian food for dinner (which I love), so we gathered the family and met at The Taj.
This was my first time eating at the Taj Kabob and Curry in Omaha. They have a popular lunch buffet; however, since we were there for dinner we ordered off the menu. I ordered chicken vindaloo, a spicy curry dish, and it was quite good. Spicy, but not too spicy. Everyone in our group was happy with the dishes they ordered. Serving sizes were generous and we all took leftovers home.
Hands down, I found the BEST part of the meal to be the mint chutney they served with the naan bread! Mint chutney is now my new favorite condiment. The mint chutney at The Taj is neither creamy nor sweet. It is a dipping sauce, looking similar to chimichurri sauce, and having a similar tanginess. Luckily for me, no one else at our table loved the mint chutney as much as I did, so I happily took ALL the leftover chutney with me! You really should try out The Taj for dinner, and not just their lunch buffet. We arrived early in the evening on Saturday, but there was no wait for a table.
It will now be my mission to recreate the mint chutney at home, and use it as both a dipping sauce and a marinade! I think I'll start by trying this recipe:
