Philadelphia Museum of Art has the Famous Rocky Steps

Recently I was in Philadelphia, PA and we stopped at the Museum of Art which is a very impressive building and has about 200 steps (approx) going up to the top to enter the museum.

2600 Bejamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia PA 19130 (215) 763-8100

Philadelphia Museum of Art Has Famous Rocky Stairs

This building sits on the top of the Bejamin Franklin Parkway and is the third largest museum in the United States. But what else is this buildings claim to fame you ask? It is the steps that the fictional character "Rocky Balboa" ran up in his movie played by the imfamous Sylvester Stallone. In 1980, Stallone had a life size bronze statue placed at the bottom of the steps.

Philadelphia is a fantastic city and has so much to see. I love to go there at least once or twice a year and go site seeing every day. I just love the city.♥

*I read recently that this spot is the second most favorite location for filming movies in the world.

The next time you are in Philadelphia, go see the Rocky steps and statue. Also, try to find the time to go inside and enjoy the museum.

Kristin, I share your love of Philadelphia. The museum steps are visually impressive and a great workout!  I also love the Rodin Museum in Philadelphia.

Hi Kristin, I seldom pass by an art museum without stopping in, yet I have never watched a Rocky movie.  Thanks for sharing another museum opportunity.

Hi Sharon,

Yes, Philadelphia is fasinating and I will have to go visit your suggestion, the Rodin Museum. I am going there again in May. We have already decided to go back to the zoo one day. When we was there 3.5 yrs ago, they were building a new lion exhibit so it should be done now.

I would love the chance to try and run up those Rocky steps one day.  It's not too far from where I am. Three hours, maybe two.  There would have to be an authentic Philly Cheesesteak in there at the end of the Rocky steps run, though.

Hi Bob,

You should watch the first Rocky movie as it was very good. I love museums too.

Hi Endre,

You and Sharon both mentioned this museum and I read about it this morning and said over 1/2 are outside. I am looking forward to going here in May. Thanks for the tip and I will for sure bring back photos.

Hi Chris Ann,

I just drove by when I was there but planning to visit when I go back. It would be quite a chore to go up all those steps so I am wondering if there is a elevator or escalator there as well.

Hi Kimo,

I find I walk miles when I visit Philadelphia as I love to soak up the flavor of the city. We rarely rent a car but just have one pick us up at the airport and then take us back at the end of our trip. Cabs, Buses, Train, and walking mostly is our normal routine.

Good morning Kristin~ It's been a very long time since I've been to Philly! I should really plan a trip. There is so much to see and do and it's not that far from my family and friends in NJ!

Hi Donna,

I love Philly and always find such great places to visit and this next trip I planned around a festival that comes twice a year. I missed it this year by one week so decided to find the date and make reservations early. We are going to the zoo too as it is lovely and has a new tiger exhibit.
