Tax Time is Right Around the Corner

Tax Time

I had some downtime this Sunday, so I decided to tackle the pile of un-filed invoices and receipts at my home office.

I'll admit that thankfully I was busy this summer.  The first administrative task to slip was sorting out and recording my expenses.  My mom just happens to be my Accountant (Accounting Plus in Omaha NE), so I want to make sure that everything is squared away at the beginning of the year so that I don't feel like I am "dumping" a mess of paperwork on her.

I feel like I've learned an important lesson today.  If I could just get in the habit of taking some time at the beginning of each month to organize my paperwork, I wouldn't have to spend a Sunday afternoon and evening stressing and organizing six months of paperwork all in one sitting.

Anyway, I am feeling like I got a lot accomplished this evening, and I know my mother will appreciate it come tax time!

Christi, you're ahead of the game.  Keeping track of everything on a monthly basis makes the end of the year a lot easier.

My computer had some troubles after a power outage, but my husband was able to recover most of my work. The only thing I was really sweating was the accounting software. I'd hate to go back and redo all that work when we are so close to the end of the year.
