Notes from the NAR Conference in New Orleans

Well, i just returned from the conference and found it very enlightening.  With the site in New Orleans, the temptation exists to just skip all of the classes and roam the French Quarter and Bourbon Street, but we fought through it and had a productive conference.  The highlights for me were:

1. In the Expo, an area was set up where multiple countries would meet and greet with attendees to introduce themselves and promote investment in their country.  Of course, we had the opportunity to convince them that investing in our country, and more specifically, our city, was desirable as well.  I'm going to investigate the various upcoming shows in these countries and perhaps visit one in the coming year.

2. The trade show is always interesting, with every real estate tool in the market on display.

3.  Above all, there were a lot of great speakers with tips on improvement of your skills and your brokerage.

Overall, the show was great as was the venue.  I would recommend it to all.

James: Glad to hear that the NAR Conference was worthwhile. The International Mingle would have made the entire trip for me. Thanks for sharing.

Which countries were you most enthused to see represented? I have a close friend from China who has discussed investing in the U.S. with me. Exciting times to live, technology has made long distance relationships/partnerships a real possibility!

Hi James, It's always great to attend the Conference, with all the new ideas and information we receive.  Even with all that it had to offer, Evelyn and I were able to do some outside ctivities.

Sounds like an amazing experience. I hear flipping homes is Hot down there right now... people are picking up old katrina properties that were never rebuilt from the floods. Flood insurance is expensive and most people don't realize that even if you have flood insurance, you have a deductable and co-insurance cost which is very expensive.
