LoDo, LoHi and RiNo? What did you say? - And I thought REALTOR designations were difficult to understand. I am guessing every major city has a downtown area know as lower downtown or LoDo as
we like to call it in Denver, the LoDo market has been popular for over 100 years now, and although it has seen its share of change, it is always a hot spot, bustling with activity and the convenience fo living right downtown.
A couple of the newer hotspots in Denver are the Lower Highlands or LoHi, this area is just on the east side of I-25 and north of Speer all the way to Coors Field. Most of this area 15 years ago was full of railyards and old warehouses, but now is full of life, with restaurants, condos, apartment complexes, lofts and jsut about every type of entertainment you can imagine, a very popular area for the younger professional.
Thanks in part to a few visionaries who saw this area as one of the up and coming places to build
residential complexes and by the powers that be that put Coors Field, home of the Colorado Rockies at the north end of it all, the area is filling in very nicely indeed. 1 Bedroom condos are selling for upwards of $500K in some of the more desirable buildings with mountain, city and riverfront views, although you can still find some in the lower $200Ks if you have a good agent working for you.
The latest area to break ground in the area is known as RiNo, or River North, which is a mixed use development a few blocks to the north east of Coors Field. The development will house roughly 100 condos a couple dozen townhomes and over 40K square feet of retail space. It has been interesting watching this "cowtown" evolve over the 50 plus years I have lived here. Places are springing up where I would have never imagined they would, and they are areas that are going for top dollar, I guess there is a good reason why I am not a developer, I do not have the vision that others have.
But I love what they are doing to my city!
