Do people really buy homes during the Holidays?

Yes, they do and they get great deals on them as well.

I love being a REALTOR the Holidays come along. It is beautiful outside the air is crisp and househunting is typically a pleasure. Even if the leaves are not raked on a vacant home as I pull up to show a house it is fine. I love the sound of leaves shuffling under my feet as I walk. It reminds me of being a kid somehow.

I also love to represent buyers this time of year because this is when  we find motivated sellers and very serious buyers coming together to be a win, win for both sides. The best time to house hunt is any time a football game is on ( sorry football fans put NFL Ticket on your cell phone if you need to and let's find you a home)

What You will find in the marketplace

  • Less Competition
  • Serious Sellers
  • Rates are typically steady through the holidays

It is music to my ears when I hear other agents saying it is slow or that their year is over!

It is music to my ears when I hear sellers say they are taking their home off the market for the holidays!

If my buyers are open to coaching and willing to move their time frame up from Spring 2016 to winter of 2015 they can find themselves in a win, win situation.

I recently ready an article on Realty Trac that supports my experience that fall and winter are the best times to be a buyer. Read more here

Great post, and we are finding the same situation.  Motivated sellers and buyers, not many tire kickers.

Great information and spot on! I find that it picks up in the Bucks County, PA area as well just after the New Year. Serious buyers were out during the holdays as well. As mentioned, the mortgage rates are still at extremely low levels and I have seen a surge in showings just before the end of 2015. Looking for a very busy 2016 with new construction as well as resale!
