Once a welcomed pilgrim and delightful guest.
Has waned in vigor and now seeks rest,
Depart now, harbinger of Arctic’s reign,
Adieu dear Autumn, ‘Til we meet again!
(R Weisser 2014)
A blast of early winter has accelerated the end of leaf season here in West Georgia. Our peak season is typically the first two weeks of November so we are pretty much on schedule.
We often have some leaves well into December but even the largest oaks are now in the process of going to sleep for the winter.
I was able to enjoy the show this year in Connecticut, The Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the North Georgia Mountains, and finally here in Coweta County.
As usual, I took plenty of photos. But as the classic tune from the 60;s astutely opined:
Ain’t nothing like the real thing!
