A forced air unit on a 203k I was working on was gutted. They took the blower, motor and circuit board. What can my client do?
I'm afraid this is an insurance matter for the contractor. The contractor should have "work in progress" insurance to cover this. The home owner's policy might also cover the theft but that is what it is. You, as the consultant don't have anything to do with this issue.
Oh MIke- never run across anything like this. SOunds like a nightmare for the new home owner.

We had one years ago that they installed the entire plumbing system in copper and called for the inspection. When the inspector arrived there was no copper in the house... shocked everyone.
Yikes, not your run of the mill event, happening but good points to be on the look out of what can happen. Copper stripping happens. At 3 dollars a pound for scrap or whatever the over the counter, black market value is.

In CA they finally started making the scrap metal buyers ask the sellers where the copper came from. Otherwise it was like mining for many of the sellers.
