Today, plans were released for “Skyscraper” which is going to be the world’s tallest roller coaster, coming to International Drive in 2017. A 4-minute animation of the attraction was released by Orlando company US Thrill Rides. The video shows vehicles holding eight passengers (two rows of four people) starting from the takeoff from inside the Skyplex entertainment complex and climbing upward, with day and night experience perspectives.
“The unique design of the coaster means more incredible, heart-pounding inside and outside loops, dives, spirals and inversions in a vertical area than riders have ever before experienced,” Bill Kitchen, founder of US Thrill Rides told Orlando Sentinel readers.
From this ride you’ll experience corkscrew moves along with unexpected drops and sudden elevations with glimpses of International Drive sites including the Orlando Eye (still under construction).
"Skyscraper will not only take riders higher than ever before, but also introduce one thrill right after the next – there’s no ‘down time’ on this four-minute coaster experience,” Michael Kitchen told Orlando Sentinel. “It is an absolute cutting-edge engineering marvel that will deliver pure adrenaline unlike any roller coaster in the world today.”
The 495,000 square foot Skyplex is planned to include rock climbing, bars, restaurants, retail and upscale arcading. The attraction will be built around the International Drive and Sand Lake Road area. Development is slated to begin in 2015 and open for business in 2017.
