LI home prices still flat in October

The median prices of Long Island homes contracted for sale in October remained virtually unchanged, as both sales and inventory rose. 
The median price of pending home sales in Nassau County last month was $410,000, the same as it was a year ago, according to the latest numbers from the Multiple Listing Service of Long Island.
In Suffolk County, the median price for homes contracted for sale in October was $320,000, up just 1.6 percent from the $315,000 median price from October 2013.
Pending home sales increased in both counties last month. There were 1,047 homes contracted for sale in Nassau, an increase of 6.4 percent from the 984 homes sold there a year ago.
October home sales in Suffolk—1,148–climbed 3.3 percent from the 1,111 pending sales recorded in October 2013.
The number of homes listed for sale remains higher than last year. There were 17,286 homes listed with MLSLI at the end of October 2014, up 4.7 percent from the 16,504 homes listed at the end of October 2013.
