There is no place like HOME!
I am back... Not sure if anyone noticed, but I have been gone for about 2 months.
Life took precedence over business and it has been a difficult and strenuous period, but I was also able to add some downtime in between. It started with news that my mother in law needed hip surgery due to a fall. On her first day back from rehab, she suffered a major heart attack at her caregiver's home. She was left with only 25% usage of her heart and informed that she only had 3 months to live.
With news like that, one pretty much just put everything on hold and try to create new memories with those we love when time still permits. The Northwest has always been our second home away from home. This time it was a bit more somber. We are glad memories were created during this time.
The situation made me think about catching up with other family members. I decided to visit my own parents in San Jose. After spending two wonderful weeks in Northern California, I felt it was time to fulfill my dad's dream of visiting Europe. I put my concerns and hesitations aside and cast all my worries on God. I made last minute travel plans that took us across the Atlantic Ocean to visit London, Paris and Venice.
It was not an easy task, being that my dad is immobil and needs the assistance of a wheelchair to get around due to a stroke that he suffered 5 years ago. Europe is not necessarily a wheelchair friendly continent. They have improvements such as bus ramps (when they work), subway lifts to certain stations (when they are operable), roads that are not leveled, hotels that are only accessible by stairs. However, we were able to fulfill his dream without jeopardizing his health.
During our first week in Europe, we received news that my mother in law had passed. Les immediately flew back to the states. I could not share the news with my dad, as I was unsure how it would affect him physically.
After the funeral, Les flew back to France and met us at Eiffel tower. Nowhere else in the world was more appropriate for our reunion... the Eiffel tower is the symbol of love. We have dedicated our last 2 months to those who cared for us when we were little, to those who worked so hard to raise us to be the adults we are today, and to those who loved us unconditionally. We also took the time to rededicated our commitment and love to our own family.
I would never have been able to spend these last 2 months with those I love were I not a realtor. As a broker and owner of my own company, I was able to take the time off and not worry if I had a job to come back to. The ability to just take off as much time I needed with my folks was priceless. I would never have been able to fulfill my dad's dream or the opportunity to spend time with my mother in law, were it not for the clients and friends who put their trust and love in me and helped me build the business into what it is today.
So this blog is just my way of thanking all those who made this trip possible. The memories created has forever changed each one of us. Being back, it only strengthens and confirms my commitment to work even harder to fulfill the dreams of those I come into contact with everyday.
Real estate is not a job... it is a passion that allows me to fulfill others dreams.
After 2 months, I am so glad to be able to sleep in my own bed and, yes....
There is no place like HOME!
